IEEE Spectrum article written by Dan Stout "DOE Has a Crazy-Short Deadline to Pick a Site for New Nuclear. Can a site’s suitability be evaluated in just 90 days?"

August 5, 2025 - Advanced Nuclear Advisors is proud to share that our Managing Director, Dan Stout, has been published in IEEE Spectrum, where he provides expert insights on the future of nuclear site selection and U.S. deployment strategy. Drawing on decades of experience in nuclear site permitting—including leading the nation’s first Early Site Permit for a small modular reactor—Dan provides a clear-eyed look at the feasibility, risks, and realities of the Trump administrations' accelerated nuclear siting directives.

Executive Summary of NEI Fast Follower Framework for New Nuclear

November 5, 2024 - ANA was honored to contribute to NEI’s Fast Follower Framework for New Nuclear Deployment that guides nuclear industry leaders in capturing and applying learnings from initial builds (FOAK) to subsequent projects (NOAK)

Targeted Outcomes of the Fast Follower Framework

  • Reduced Costs Over Time: Provides a clear pathway for nuclear projects to move from FOAK to NOAK, achieving significant cost savings and economic viability by applying lessons learned to subsequent builds.

  • Optimized Schedules: Streamlines project timelines by implementing best practices and minimizing delays, ensuring faster, more predictable deployments.

  • Consistent Learning Framework: Establishes a structured approach for capturing and sharing knowledge across projects, enabling continuous improvement and supporting industry-wide standardization.

Advanced Nuclear Advisors awarded GAIN Voucher from DOE for New Nuclear and Data Centers

September 30, 2024 - We are thrilled to announce that Advanced Nuclear Advisors (ANA) has been awarded a GAIN Voucher from the U.S. Department of Energy to support our innovative Project Spark-Hub.

This project aims to develop sites that accommodate both data centers, and new nuclear reactors, addressing the urgent need for clean, reliable power in the rapidly expanding data center sector. This collaboration will enable ANA to rapidly identify and prioritize optimal sites for hosting both data centers and nuclear reactors as an integrated solution, streamlining the path to deployment.

Why This Matters:

  • Meeting Growing Power Demands: As data centers expand, so does their need for sustainable, uninterrupted power.

  • GAIN Award: DOE’s Gateway for Accelerated Innovation in Nuclear provides access and funding that will enable ANA to use DOE’s state of the art database, people and computers

  • New Nuclear Solutions: Project Spark-Hub will identify and license sites capable of hosting both data centers and advanced nuclear reactors, paving the way for rapid deployment.

  • Decarbonizing the Future: By combining nuclear energy with digital infrastructure, we are contributing to a cleaner, more reliable energy future.

We’re proud to be leading the charge in aligning nuclear innovation with the needs of the data center industry.
